Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  (John 14:6)

Let's see how He is unique in what the central message of His teaching is...

The source of truth in Buddhism is what the Buddha taught.  They are:

• the truth of suffering
• the truth of the cause of suffering
• the truth of the end of suffering
• the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  (John 14:6)

Jesus is different.  He says "I am truth."

Let's look at the uniqueness of Jesus' teaching here in John 14:6:

1. Jesus is the way
   • Jesus says it is not a teaching that will save you, but a Savior that will save you.  It is not your ability to follow the teaching, but My ability to forgive and keep you.
   • Aren't you glad that Jesus is your way and not your ability to stay on the way?
   • He is righteous, so I do the right thing.
   • He is wise, so I do the wise thing.
   • He is good, so I do the good thing.
   • He is true, so I do the true thing.
   • He is grace, so I do the graceful thing.
   • Are you relating to Jesus like He is the Way?
   • How many of you are so glad that Jesus has become your Way?
2. Jesus is the truth
   • Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  (John 14:6)
   • The truth of the situation is that Jesus had enough and, on their own, they did not.
   • Are we willing to let Jesus define truth for us?
   • Jesus is the voice of truth, not the:
     • shame voice
     • regret voice
     • self-doubt voice
     • insecurity voice
   • Turn up Jesus' voice:
     • Nobody can snatch you out of my hands.
     • I will give you rest.
     • Nothing can separate you from My love.
     • No condemnation.
     • I am with you.
     • I have not given you a spirit of fear.
   • And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.  (John 1:14)
   • Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they?  Has no one condemned you?"  "No one, sir," she said.  "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared.  "Go now and leave your life of sin."  (John 8:10-11, NIV)
   • And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"  When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick."  (Matthew 9:11-12)

3. Jesus is the life
   • Before I was empty, now I am full.
