Series: True Grit
Sermon Title: Gritty For God's Glory
Scripture: Matthew 15:21-28
Date: June 24, 2018
Last week's WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Ask "Why not?" a lot this week; especially to things that you suspect God may want you to do.
Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us." But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Then she came and worshipped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." And she said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour. (Matthew 15:21-28)
GRITTY FOR GOD'S GLORY
Our grit or strength is a byproduct of our relationship with Jesus.
It may be that you need courage to have grit for someone else.
God is not honored when we get our feelings hurt way too easily.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Ask God where He wants you to be gritty for His glory.
Let's see an encouragement and some places for Christians to show grit:
- Promises
- But now I come to You and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. (John 17:13)
- I want to fill you with joy.
- And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them. The love of God will be planted deep in you, and I'll always be with you. (John 17:26)
- Jesus made the Father known to us and has placed His love within us - a love that is not to be kept to ourselves.
- The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destory. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundatly. (John 10:10)
- My purpose in your life is to give you a rich and satisfying life.
- Places
- Family
- Will you give your family the best chance possible to have the best relationship possible with Jesus?
- Love
